Further adding to Subaru’s reputation for building safe, reliable vehicles, the automaker recently developed a fully-automated safety system called EyeSight. This system combines a variety of preventative safety features, which make our dealership’s new Subaru vehicles safer than ever. Here is a closer look at Subaru’s new EyeSight safety system:
The most impressive and innovative aspect of the Subaru EyeSight safety system is that it can automatically apply the car’s brakes without any driver input in order to prevent a collision. The system constantly analyzes the road conditions to determine whether the Subaru is on a collision path, and automatically alerts the driver to give him or her a chance to respond and avoid the accident. If the driver doesn’t respond immediately, the system will automatically apply the brakes to prevent or reduce the severity of a collision.
Lane Swaying Alert
Using the same system of sensors, the Subaru EyeSight system can detect unintentional lane departures. If you are in a Subaru with EyeSight and you start to deviate from your lane markers, the EyeSight system will step in and modify the throttle and braking levels of each wheel in order to automatically bring the car back to its line. Before relying on the brakes and throttle, EyeSight will alert the driver with an audible warning to give him or her a chance to respond.
A surprising number of accidents occur when a driver accidently hits the accelerator instead of the brakes or when the accelerator is engaged when it shouldn’t be. Subaru’s EyeSight safety system prevents this by immediately reducing the strength of the engine throttle when an accident is imminent, even when the accelerator is pressed.
